I have been making textile objects for most of my life as a way to understand, escape from, and play with the complexities of the world, as shown in my current series of quilts, Deciphering the Universe.

Working without a preconceived idea, abstractly and spontaneously, I cut and reassemble fabric until the image has an energy of its own. I work with textiles of my own design drawn from my extensive background in dyeing and patterning fabric, while exploring new techniques such as digitally-printed cotton. With the exception of solid black, every quilt shown uses fabric I have designed. One of the enjoyable aspects of working with soft materials is that at any moment I may decide to cut a formerly “finished” work and reassemble it into a new one… deconstruction is one of my favorite working methods.
